Kite Surfing

Farshad Farivar has always explored such recreational activities and has provided information about the process, technique and equipment that is used in executing that activity. Kite surfing- another very interesting recreational activity that Farshad Farivar talks about is a surface water sport. He says it is combination of wake boarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding and gymnastics. In this sport a kite surfer utilizes the wind power with a large kite which propel across the water on a kite board. Farshad Farivar says there are different types of kite boarding which includes free style, free ride, down winders, speed, course racing, wake style, jumping and wave riding.

Farshad Farivar tells that there are different types of kite surfing techniques which includes kite launching, flying, landing, usage of the bar, lines and safety devices. For a beginner it is must that he accesses the basic of kite surfing which includes wind direction and wind strength. Farshad Farivar suggests executing this activity in cross shore and cross onshore winds in order to enjoy it to its maximum. Wind strength give indication about the size of the kite and line length. Now a day a depower kite is used to overcome such condition. After that controlled flying is established by building up tension in the lines by strong edging on the board. As kite gain the lift, the board edge is released and rider becomes airborne. Now the travel is in the hand of surfer.

Farshad Farivar talks about the equipment which is possessed by surfer. It includes power kites which itself is of two types: Leading Edge Inflatable’s (LEI) and Foil kites. LEI includes a trailing edge, a shallower arc in platform and a bridle along the leading edge which helps to gaining more thrust and makes easier to re launch .Foil kites are fabrics with air pockets which provide lift and fixed bridle to maintain arc shape of the kite. Foil kites are designed with either an open cell ( a constant air flow against the inlet valves to inflated, but fail to re launch if it hit the water because it become soaked ) or closed cell ( it hold the air in the chamber even if it hits the water and easy to re launch ). Other equipments are Flying Lines (attach the rider’s control bar to the kite using suitable cords on the kite edge), Control Bar (control the motion for the rider), Kite harness (attaches rider with control bar), Kite board( onto which rider surfs on water surface), Wet Suit (prevent body heat in strong winds), Safety hook knife(to cut entangled or snagged lines), Helmet (for the protection of head), Personal floating device ( in case of deep sea where surfer become disable and need to rescued), Impact vest (provide protection against torso area), Signalling device (for rescue purpose),GPS (for calculating distance ,speed and track).
